Insomnia from Leg Cramps and RLS

There are chronic muscular, neurological, and psychological conditions that contribute to insomnia. One is Restless Legs Syndrome, another is a sudden panic reaction caused by “missing a step”, the sensation of the foot hitting nothing as you fall and happens upon entering sleep. In the case of the latter the jolt of panic causes hyperventilation and a secretion of adrenalin that will keep a person awake for another hour or two.

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a medically recognized specific chronic condition common to groups with both genetic and/or acquired factors resulting in the urge to move the limbs around, usually the legs. Sufferers are generally in the over 40 age range but young people can be affected also, and were misdiagnosed in the past. The phenomenon was simply labeled “growing pains” and it was thought that the child would grow out of it. All sorts of hyperactivity can account for young people being awake.

Other leg cramps occur when a person begins to exercise after being out of shape, when there’s fatigue and dehydration, when medications interfere with the immune system, and when circulatory problems are present. Nerves fire out of control in a chain-reaction within the muscles, which then tighten up with less oxygen carried by the blood. Swimmers in cold water will attest to the possibility of binding cramps getting them in trouble; it’s impossible to put weight on it while in the water and it paralyzes the leg, possibly both legs.

Many cases of cramping have vitamins and minerals that can be used, in particular potassium, iron, and a patented supplement that contains all-natural ingredients and is branded as “All Calm” which relieves leg cramps in general and RLS in particular.

When a sleeping person gets awakened by leg cramps, jumping up to place weight on the leg will sometimes settle the calf muscles down to ease the pain. They can tie up the muscle area around the shins where standing with weight on the leg won’t help. In that case, a hot bath and massaging the knots out of the muscles is the best first aid. The cramps can start all over as soon as you move the wrong way in bed trying to return to sleep. The aftermath of the pain and the furtive attempts to get rid of it guarantees several hours of lost sleep.

Doctors may experiment with different medications to treat chronic conditions like RLS but those may conflict with other medications and no one pharmaceutical product is used to treat insomnia with all patients. Psychological conditions causing sleep loss are particularly medicated on a case-by-case basis. Anxiety, stress, schizophrenia, mania, and depression can all lead to long periods of insomnia that are damaging to the patient. When insomnia goes beyond three weeks, it is defined medically as chronic, as opposed to someone having a few days of bad sleep due to jet lag or a short stay in an uncomfortable place such as a hospital.

Chronic pain, fatigue, night time angina, acid reflux disease, asthma, obstructive sleep apnea, and a wide range of serious conditions will produce insomnia as a side effect, but lower leg muscle difficulty is bound to cause restless nights, and the condition seems to be alleviated universally by the All Calm supplement and so would be the logical place to start when searching for a remedy. Like all treatments it’s wise to get a doctor’s advice and read the instructions regarding method of use.

My husband and heart problems?

s only 26 my husband took six months in hospital with chest pains and heart rate 150. they had high blood pressure for a year or two before angina and Prinz metal. had just put a new day Medicine before coming to recall the name, but ended up in a pine tree. n who said he kept his blood troponin in five days, "he had a heart attack early angiography It is normal would not have been a heart attack without much information to be delivered two days had a chest pain left half of side a few inches above the nipple, which thinks it's just a pulled muscle and return to the hospital because of past but still worried. He is overweight, nearly 17 stone but trying to lose with a diet. ECG said that his was really a bit strange, but not bad. your blood pressure today was very high for him not normally 140s/90-100 160s/110-120.

The medications you take is atropine, which is used to manage vasospasm seems that your husband had. If the troponin was present in the blood, which indicates damage to the cardiac muscle and is very accurate, but the levels can be raised without having a heart attack. Prinzmetal angina occurs after coronary spasm / Vasospasm also explains that troponin levels are raised. Without doubt, weight is down and should be encouraged to do so. With its history, although chest pain, and medications do not stop the pain should be evaluated. Take him to the hopsital

most effective treatment for coronary heart disease?

what would be the most effective treatment for CHD, angina/heart attack.

medication or surgery? or something else?

btw do you know of any websites that show statistics/data such as graphs to prove it?

The most appropriate therapy for CAD will vary depending on the severity of the blockages and also the number of blockages. Therapy with medications, lifestyle modification and possibly intervention to fix the blockages is the best action in most cases. The intervention to fix blockages can either be angioplasty with or without stent placement or surgery known as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG.) The decision to perform angioplasty vs. surgery vs. medical therapy is dependent on the location of the blockages, the percentage of the blockages and the total number of blockages. CABG is preferred for left main artery disease, multivessel disease, in Diabetics and when the blockages are not accessible by angioplasty. Some people are not candidates for any of these procedures and are managed only medically.

Medical management and lifestyle modification is very important in all patients with CAD. There are several medical therapies that are associated with a reduction in future heart attacks and other vascular events and also overall mortality. These medical therapies include blood thinners (Aspirin, Clopidogrel), beta blockers, ace inhibitors and cholesterol lowering medications. Lifestyle modification is also vitally important in reducing the future risk of heart attacks and death. This includes dietary modification, such as a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet that is high in omega 3 fatty acids. Regular aerobic exercise is also important but should be under the supervision of a physician initially perhaps in a cardiac rehab program.

Difference Between Angina And Ischemia

difference between angina and ischemia

The Health of Your Heart

Almost 14 million Americans have a history of heart attack or angina. It is now one of the leading causes of death in the United States. More than 1 million Americans have heart attacks each year. A heart attack, or myocardial infarction (MI), is permanent damage to the heart muscle. “Myo” means muscle, “cardial” refers to the heart and “infarction” means death of tissue due to lack of blood supply.

Nutrition and energy are delivered to the entire body by blood from the pumping heart. The heart itself requires constant energy in the form of oxygen and nutrients, which all come from the blood that delivered through the coronary arteries.  A blockage in the coronary arteries prevents blood flow and causes the heart muscle to starve. The medical term for such starvation is ischemia, a condition that  is accompanied by a chest discomfort called angina.  If the blockage is severe, some of the heart muscle actually dies. When heart muscle dies, this is called a heart attack or myocardial infarction.

Fortunately, modern medicine already offers medical treatment acute heart attack.  Preventive measures have been identified  and are now being taught to prevent such an attack from occurring or recurring. Beta blockers are medications used to decrease heart rate and blood pressure. These can be given through an intravenous (IV) line or by mouth. Oxygen is used via nose plugs or a facemask if a person is having a heart attack. This is useful if breathing is difficult or the amount of oxygen in the blood is low.

Aspirin is used to decrease blood clotting. It works by preventing platelets from sticking together. Plavix (clopidogrel) is an additional platelet blocker given to those having a heart attack. Both aspirin and plavix are pills given by mouth. Clotting inhibitors called heparin, lovenox, and 2B3A are given via the IV and can help prevent the blockage from getting worse. A statin, or cholesterol pill, is often given to those having a heart attack. This too can stabilize a blockage and prevent it from getting worse. Chest pain can be decreased with nitroglycerine. This is given in a variety of ways, a dissolving pill under the tongue, a paste on the chest, or via the IV. Nitroglycerine helps dilate the coronary arteries allowing more blood to flow through. Morphine is another medication to control chest discomfort and ease anxiety.  These medications mentioned work to stabilize a blockage, however, they are not very effective in removing one that has already formed. This job is done by “clot buster” medications or thrombolytics. T-PA (tissue plasminogen activator) and similar medicines can break apart a blockage and restore blood flow. Alternatively, this can be done with a balloon and stent procedure by a cardiologist.

However, there are practical ways that can lessen the chances of having a heart attack. Consuming at least five fruits and vegetables daily, exercising at least 2.5 hours per week, maintaining a healthy weight and not smoking can decrease your chances of heart trouble by 35 percent, and the risk of dying by 40 percent, compared to people with less healthy lifestyles.  Research have shown that people who eat a balanced diet and exercise more can substantially reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease and death even if they’re in their 50s or 60s.  Most experts agree that a health-promoting lifestyle such as eating well, being active, and not smoking can cut overall risk of heart disease by 80 percent. Indeed, adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle makes a difference.

What is the difference between angina and ischemia?

angina means chest pain — however not all chest pain correlate to heart problems.

Myocardial Infarction Treatment Information

Heart, like all other organs and tissues in the body, requires a supply of blood. The blood supply to the heart is provided by blood vessels called the coronary arteries. Myocardial infarction more commonly known as a heart attack. It is a medical condition. It can lead to a chronic disabling condition because it can cause heart failure. A heart attack is the death of heart muscle from the sudden blockage of a coronary artery by a blood clot. A heart attack is usually caused by a complete blockage of a coronary artery by a blood clot forming. The most common cause of MI is narrowing of the epicardial blood vessels due to atheromatous plaques.

With then plaque rupture exposure of the basement membrane results in platelet aggregation, thrombus formation, accumulation of fibrin, bleeding in the plate, and various degrees of spasms. Nonatherosclerotic causes of MI include coronary vasospasm as seen in variant (Prinzmetal) angina. Myocardial Infarction is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Approximately 1.3 million cases of nonfatal MI are reported each year. Approximately 500,000-700,000 deaths are caused by ischemic heart disease annually in the United States. MI most frequently occurs in persons older than 45 years.

Chest pain is one of the main symptoms of heart attack. The pain may be felt in a body part. The pain can be similar to angina, but it is generally more severe and lasts longer. The pain usually lasts more than 20 minutes. A heart attack is a medical emergency. Treatment of heart attacks include anti–platelet medications to prevent formation of blood clots in the arteries , anti–coagulant medications to prevent growth of blood clots in the arteries, clot–dissolving medications to open blocked arteries. To prevent a heart attack keep your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol under control.

Myocardial Infarction Treatment and Prevention Tips

1. Antiplatelet medicines help prevent clot formation.

2. Beta-blockers help reduce the strain on the heart and lower blood pressure.

3. ACE inhibitors are used to prevent heart failure and lower blood pressure.

4. Keep your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol under control.

5. Consider drinking 1 to 2 glasses of alcohol or wine each day.

6. Eat a low fat diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in animal fat.

7. Eat fish twice a week. Baked or grilled fish is better than fried fish.

8. Exercise daily or several times a week. Walking is a good form of exercise.

9. Lose weight if you are overweight and don’t smoke.

Tooth Pain Angina

tooth pain angina

I think my dentist and oral surgeon are at fault for my 9 day hospital stay for Ludwig’s Angina….?

The dentist knew the tooth was abcessed and referred me to the oral surgeon who also said the tooth was abcessed, and pulled the tooth anyway. No antibiotic was prescribed by either. Also, the oral surgeon DID give me a prescription for a pain killer, but the pharmacy wouldn’t fill it because I shouldn’t combine it with another medication I take.
A surgeon had to perform two surgeries. I was in the ICU and on a ventilator. CAN I SUE????????

Ludwig’s Angina “simply” means (I know it’s serious) that the infection started to spread out across the muscles of the floor of the mouth. So any infection of the teeth, especially those in the posterior lower jaw, may turn into Ludwig’s. Nowadays we tend to catch them early enough, but it can be as simple as a strange root that happens to go deeper than other roots or closer to the outside of the bone so that the infection gets into the floor of the mouth faster.

Have you spoken to the dentist and oral surgeon about what happened? The first thing you need to do is to sit down with one or both of them and, in a non-accusatory manner (show that you are on top of the situation and mature enough to have a discussion), ask them what they think went wrong. Ask why antibiotics were not prescribed and ask how the Ludwig’s may have been prevented.

Remember, though they should have kept you updated the whole time, there may be a specific reason why antibiotics weren’t prescribed or why the infection spread out into your mouth. Let them educate you on their professional opinion and you can explain your experience in the hospital. They definitely owe you that meaning.

Remember that suing for malpractice is only for money. It will not erase time, and it will cause extremely negative relationships in your life. Be someone who stands up for yourself but does not hurt other people to “make a point.” If you need the money from the hospital stay and you can prove that their lack of care directly led to the Ludwig’s, then contact a lawyer and go ahead.

Just please know how dangerous ALL oral infections are. Most dentists don’t explain this to patients, but the proximity of the roots to crucial structures like the brain, mouth spaces, throat, etc. makes any dental infection high risk.

Most importantly, be glad that you’re all right now. Ludwig’s can potentially be fatal. I’m sorry it happened.

how did i get an asbo?

every time i sat down to eat my sardines the door bell sounded. everytime i answered the door there was no-one there except some children on the otherside of the road wearing hoods and harmlessly polishing their penknives. one day i asked them if they had seen anyone at my door. they said they had seen my neibour ralf running away. i went and spoke to ralf who looked a bit flushed and was shaking. he said to me that he had been reliably informed that i had been urinating on his roses. i informed him that i thought he might be unwell. at this point he hit in the face and we both fell to the floor fighting which wasnt good for my angina. anyrode up 3 weeks later weve got an asbo! we cant leave our houses between the times of 8.30 am and and 8am however the young children still wave at us .whch is nice.

It wouldn’t surprise me. Police in England are absolute f*cking t*ssers. They prey on the innocent because it’s easier than actually getting these scummy kids off the street.

Had many dealings being on the wrong end of the law. For example, walking home with my shopping and being stopped and searched. Yet kids at the town smashing bottles and terrorising people is fine. They also got the d*cks out at my mates lounge window as he played with his kids. The police never turned up even after several phone calls stating the kids were still outside up to no good hanging around outside the shop. Then they wonder why people take the law in to their own hands.

Once I was dog sitting and I let the dogs out in to the garden and was having a cigarette. When all of a sudden this guy comes up to the gate and says hello. I thought it must have been a friend of the people whos dogs I was looking after. It wasn’t. It was a two bob policeman in plain clothing. He then proceeded to ask if it was my house – I have no idea why, I’m minding my own business as usual. I obviously answer no so then he asks what I am doing at the house. I tell him and he has the cheak to not believe me. Fair enough, I could have been a burglar, but what made him come and be nosey anyway to someone in the back garden. He then made me ring up the people whos house it was to confirm my story was true. They were at a funeral but he didn’t care about that. All the time I’m trying to get through to these people, he’s on his radio saying, “I see one male, climbing over fences. I’m with the suspect now” What fence am I meant to have climbed over?? I barely just walked out the back door before he comes over. Do not have any BBQs this summer, you will be asked why you are in the garden and if it is your house.

Apparently crime rate is down though…… so that’s good

Measures to be Taken for Angina

The basic triggering factor for angina attacks is due to physical exertion. Even a simple task like walking, climbing stairs, jogging, and lifting things can get you angina attacks. There are other factors too such as stress, mental pressure and tension, being exposed to extreme cold or heat temperatures, consumption of alcohol as well as smoking.

Complains of indigestion, heartburn, weakness, nausea, shortness in breath and cramps are also some signs of angina. After exertion or your meals the demand for oxygen increases which is not fulfilled due to the narrowed arteries leading to an angina.

These attacks can last from 1 to 15 minutes which can be palliated by taking rest or by taking some medication. Sometimes these pains just leave as they had come, as the muscles get relaxed and supply of blood becomes easy. This kind of angina is called as stable angina. The other type of angina which changes its normal approach is called unstable angina and these are ones from which we should be worried about. This kind of angina is the first sign of heart attack.

Remedial measures for Angina

- Having a proper diet is very important.

-Being a vegetarian would help as most of the meat products have high cholesterol which risks your heart

- You can have the cantaloupe juice everyday, which contains adesnosine for thinning the blood. This would help in proper supply to the heart muscle

-Raise your bed level or keep your head raised as these would help in reducing your angina attacks at night

-Instead of taking a medicine you can keep your foot down on the floor as this would work in the same fashion like one of those medications

-Remain fit by avoiding exertion of any type

-Intake of more fresh fruits and vegetables

-Avoid oily and spicy food

There are many possible causes of chest pain. Some causes are mildly inconvenient, while other causes are serious, even life-threatening. Any organ or tissue in your chest can be the source of pain, including your heart, lungs, esophagus, muscles, ribs, tendons, or nerves.

Chest pain can also be related to problems with your digestive system. These include stomach ulcer, gallbladder disease, gallstones, indigestion, heartburn, or gastroesophageal reflux (when acid from your stomach backs up into your esophagus).

Ulcer pain burns if your stomach is empty and feels better with food. Gallbladder pain often gets worse after a meal, especially a fatty meal.
