Can I sue a doctor for giving me a wrong diagnosis as well as the wrong medication?
So I felt sick and decided to visit the doctor. My family doctor wasn’t in but there was another one. She took a small look at my symptoms, said that my fever is minor and that I have Angina. She prescribed some pills for me to take 3 times per day for ten days. And for some reason, the next day I began to feel worse. I then had the chance to visit my family doctor, who told me that I do not have Angina, but, I have Mononucleosis (the kissing disease). The pills I was taking were actually making my Mono worse.
So do I have the legal right to sue the doctor that gave me the wrong diagnosis and meds? Even if I am under the age of 18?
Is it possible that you misheard or misunderstood the doctor, that they might not have said it was angina?
Angina, chest pain caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart, is very uncommon in young people. In addition, the symptoms of angina and mono are completely different.
The standard medication for angina would be nitrates (such as nitroglycerin and isosorbide dinitrate), which would not make mono worse.
Before you think about suing anyone, you should review a copy of your medical records just to make sure that a mistake was indeed made.
When I experience heart trouble, my blood sugar spikes above 300. Why is that?
I have diabetes type II, which is normally well controlled with oral meds. But whenever I experience angina, my blood sugar spikes for a couple of days. After that, it’s back to normal, and the spikes don’t seem to affect the A1C. What would cause this?
Any kind of stress or anxiety will spike your blood sugar. It doesn’t take much sometimes for it to spike. It can take several days for it to come down.
Other than coronary heart disease what can cause angina?
Angina by definition is chest pain due to an inadequate supply of oxygen to the heart muscle. Cardiac artery spasm can cause an inadequate supply of oxygen to the heart muscle in the absence of coronary artery disease (a build up of plaque in the arteries narrowing them to the extent that blood cannot flow). Coronary artery spasm to the extent that causes chest pain is rare without coronary artery disease. Drugs, such as cocaine, can cause violent coronary spasm and even heart attack even in the absence of coronary artery disease.
If you are asking if other things besides your heart can cause chest pain, the answer is yes. However, if someone is experiencing chest pain, it is always advisable to seek medical attention immediately. Two organs in the chest, the heart and lungs, can cause chest pain in addition to other organs, tissues, and muscles, however, issues with the heart and lungs can be life threatening. It is always best to rule out life threatening conditions with those two organs first before assuming otherwise.
I need to know a couple of things about the psychical impact of angina pectoris on a paitient.?
Character type A, if I’m not mistaking.. a link, or some details would really be nice
The article cited below states that there are three psychological MMPI) associations with the diagnosis of angina.
Practically, people with angina sometimes (not always) can develop a fear of having an attack, can deny their symptoms and diagnosis and can develop anxiety around the possible implications of the diagnosis (eg future heart disease, vascular disease).
Q 4 people with ANGINA. What are some of the things that you do to calm yourself during an attack?
Do you always have Nitroglycerine with you just in case you have an attack, or is there something else that you do for yourself that you would like to share with the world? I figure that since most Doctors don’t seem to be able to help with alternative ideas, then perhaps someone in this forum would like to share some of the things that have worked for them in the management of ANGINA! Thanks.
Well, my angina comes from coronary artery disease. The best cure is getting the blockage stented so blood can flow again. The nitro is the only thing I’m aware of and I’ve been dealing with it for 20-25 years!
Anaemia is derived from a Greek word meaning “without blood.” It is a condition whereby, there is a deficiency of red blood cells, or haemoglobin. This leads to a lack of oxygen-carrying ability of the body.
The three main types of anaemia include:
1. Excessive or acute blood loss, known as haemorrhage.
2. Excessive blood cell destruction known as haemolysis
3. Deficient red blood cell production known as haematopoisis.
To produce red blood cells, the body needs iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid, among other things. If there is a lack of one or more of these substances, anaemia will develop.
Anaemia is not a disease in itself. It is not only due to iron or vitamin deficiency. It may also be due to a chronic illness, or a genetic or acquired disease (such as thalassaemia or sickle cell disease). It may also be a side effect of a medication, such as anti-biotic medications or anti-coagulants.
What are the symptoms of anaemia?
Anaemia goes undetected in many people, and symptoms can also be quite vague.
• If a person is otherwise healthy, symptoms only appear after the haemoglobin level drops below 10g/dl.
• Breathlessness, tiredness, giddiness and fast palpitations.
• Pale appearance
• Fainting
• If the anaemia becomes severe, angina (chest pain), headache and leg pain (difficulty walking).
In pronounced cases of iron deficiency, noticeable symptoms appear in the tongue and throat and include:
• a burning sensation in the tongue.
• dryness in the mouth and throat.
• sores at the corners of the mouth.
• the nails become brittle and spoon shaped
• pica (an insatiable craving for a specific food, especially iron deficient food)
• brittle hair.
• difficulty eating
A word of caution- iron deficiency can in rare cases cause permanent changes to the mucosa (soft lining) in the throat. This condition is a preliminary stage to cancer.
What are the causes of anaemia?
The following are some of the common reasons why anaemia may develop:
• Heavy periods in women, puberty in girls
• Iron deficient diet
• Internal bleeding, may be due to a tumour
• Diet low in vitamin B12 or folic acid.
• Diseases such as leukaemia, piles, stomach cancer.
• Infections such as malaria and septicaemia, which reduces the life span of red blood cells such as malaria and septicaemia, which reduces the life span of red blood cells.
• Hormone disorders such as hypothyroidism
• Excessive alcohol intake reduces the uptake of folic acid.
What are the different types of anaemia?
• Iron deficiency anaemia
• Vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia
• Folic acid deficiency
Who are at high risk of developing anaemia?
Certain people are at increased risk of anaemia, including:
• Menstruating women
• Pregnant women
• Women who are lactating
• Babies, especially if premature
• Children, especially girls going through puberty
• Vegetarians
• People with stomach ulcers
• People with cancer
• People with chronic diseases.
How is anaemia treated?
The treatment definitely depends on the cause of anaemia.
# Anaemia may be resolved with an improved diet or by taking iron or folic acid supplements.
# If anaemia is due to internal hbleeding, e.g. ulcers, then drugs or surgery may be required.
# If anaemia is left untreated, symptoms will gradually get worse. The person may become very tired and weak, and subsequently develop angina or leg pains.
Rich dietary sources of iron:
Food contains two types of iron – heme iron and nonheme iron.
Heme iron is derived from haemoglobin, and is found in animal foods that originally contained hemoglobin, such as red meat, fish, egg yolk, shellfish and poultry. Iron from these sources is readily absorbed in the intestines.
Iron from plant foods include lentils, dried fruits, nuts and seeds, figs, dates, dried apricots, beetroot, raisins, leafy green vegetables such as spinach, whole grains, fortified cereals and breads, peas and beans is arranged in a chemical structure called non-heme iron. Other sources of dietary iron include green leafy vegetables, tofu, chickpeas, and strawberries.
Preventive steps for anaemia:
# Stick to a healthy, balanced diet and ensure that your food contains good sources of iron, folic acid and vitamin B12.
# Cut down on alcohol consumption.
# If you are a strict vegetarian, take vitamin B12 supplements to avoid deficiency.
# Coffee, tea and other caffeine drinks should be avoided because they decrease iron absorption.
# Cook food in an iron pot so as to increase the iron content of foods.
# Eating a lot of fresh salad helps prevent anemia, especially if lots of beet are included.
# Honey helps increase the haemoglobin in the blood, as it is rich in iron, copper and manganese.
# Intake of vitamin C is important for the absorption of iron. An anaemic person must take two citrus fruits daily.
# Avoid cow’s milk, which can cause hidden bleeding in the intestinal tract.
I had an ecg today and the reported stated “possible postarosal (sic) infarction. Do you know what this is?
I had 2 mycardial infarctions 30 days apart in 2001 and three stents were installed, 2 LAD and 1 in RCA. Recent angina activity increase and one cramp like symptom lasting 2 minutes at heart location. Doc said most likely diaphram not heart. Cramp 20 minutes earlier in left calf muscle extremely acute and virulent left calf muscle bruised. Low potasiam cause for cramps. Your opionion is important to me, thank you
You know you have a heart problem. You need to ask questions of your Dr. or look it up on the internet . Preferably both. Here a lot of folks seem to want to give smart alecky answers. Please don’t take offense when I say this because I am just trying to tell you what you already know.
I had an angiogram which showed I have 5 narrowings in my right coronary artery, they go from 40% to 60%, I also have three in my left coronary artery, all at 40%, I also have diffuse stenoses in my circumflex with a patent stent. I have unstable angina. I was told there would be no intervention until the stenoses get to 70% or more. Is this usual?
I had a heart attack August 21st of last year. My right cornary artery was 100 % blocked. They put in a drug eluding stent, and so far pretty good. Still sometimes get chest pains and have to put a nitro pill under my tongue. And was in hospital again in February for bloodpressure of 217 / 133.. I take 150 blood pressure pills each month. No clue as to why my blood pressure is so erratic, medicine doesn’t seem to help alot. They want to do tests on my kidneys, they tell me a kidney tumor sometimes causes uncontrollable blood pressure.. And I’m due back for check up with Heart Center and cardiologist next week.. Just listen to what your cardiologist tells you, watch your diet, and lower your cholesterol..
it’s not angina, because angina doesn’t last for longer then like 15 minutes, I think. It’s a dull ache that will sharpen and really like burn every few minutes. I also have pain in my jaw and a weird taste in the back of my throat.
it’s also a chronic pain… this happens like every two weeks ish so I doubt it’s anything serious like a heart attack
Agina can occurs off and on all day long to some people.
Common diseases from chest pain (GERD, CAD, thyroid, lung, gallstone) can happen together at the same time, especially GERD and CAD. See doctor immediately to get antibiotics and avoid complex health problem. Good luck.
complaining of chest pain or other symptoms that suggest they might be having a heart attack.
When patients enter a hospital or an emergency room, doctors have a professional obligation to perform all the routine tests that will either diagnose heart disease or rule it out. When profit is put ahead of patient care, doctors may not take the required time to do their jobs thoroughly and effectively.
The statistics surrounding heart disease and heart attacks in the U.S. are startling. A heart attack occurs about every 20 seconds, and deaths from heart attacks occur approximately once a minute. Almost 14 million Americans have a history of heart attack or angina (chest pain or discomfort that occurs when your heart muscle does not get enough blood).
Warning signs of a heart attack include:
• Shortness of breath, often occurring at the same time as chest pain but can occur before chest pain, also
• Chest discomfort/pain (squeezing, pressure, or fullness)
• Discomfort in other areas of the upper body (one or both arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach)
• Cold sweat, nausea, light-headedness
More than 233,000 women die each year from heart disease; yet, most women do not experience chest pain when having a heart attack. Instead, they frequently experience nausea and vomiting, which often leads doctors to misdiagnose a woman’s heart attack as a gastro-intestinal problem. According to recent studies, women waited an average of almost 25 minutes longer than men for clot-buster treatments, which can stop a heart attack. Misdiagnosing a heart attack or a heart condition puts the patient, female or male, at risk for stroke, paralysis and death.
Acute cardiac ischemia (ACI) is a deficiency in the blood supply to the heart muscle. ACI includes heart attack and unstable angina; these conditions are among the most difficult to diagnose for even experienced physicians. Because these conditions go undiagnosed, patients are often discharged from the hospital when they should be admitted for further testing and treatment. Patients not admitted to the hospital are twice as likely to die than patients properly diagnosed, admitted and treated.
Heart disease is the number one killer in the nation, and failure to diagnose a heart attack is the number one medical malpractice mistake in our country. Being aware of the warning signs and what diagnostic options should be made available to you in the hospital may just help save your life.
High Blood Pressure and Destructive Diseases of the Arteries
If you have high blood pressure, and have done for a number of years, your heart may become larger due to years of overworking. This means that you are at a massive risk of developing a number of heart diseases, each with painful symptoms, usually fatal if not treated properly. Hypertension can cause huge damage that is usually irreparable to the arteries.
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)
This is a type of high blood pressure that causes too much stress on the pulmonary artery. This condition develops a desperate need for treatment when the pressure inside the arteries becomes greater than 25 mmHg. An average, healthy person has a blood pressure level of 14 mmHg through the arteries. The muscles of the artery walls start to tighten because they are trying to work too hard to reduce the amount of pressure, unsuccessfully. This is a “catch 22″, because as the walls tighten and the muscles over-develop, the pressure actually increases because there is far less space for the blood to travel through, meaning the blood flow slows and more blood pressure builds up.
Not only can the inside walls thicken, but scar tissue can form to try to alleviate some of the pressure, again causing a narrowing of the passageways and forcing the walls of the arteries to harden, making the pressure build further.
If PAH goes completely untreated, or is mistreated, the consequences are severe illness, leading to heart failure and then death. The primary causes are genetic, if your family has a history of this condition. Some other causes can be blood clots, heart disease, severe lung diseases, obesity, high cholesterol and heavy smoking. The condition also exacerbates other heart conditions because the right side of the heart is forced into overworking itself, and because it becomes so overworked, it fails.
Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis refers to a narrowing and even sometimes a hardening of the artery walls. As with most high blood pressure related heart conditions, the risk of developing this illness increases over time, so it is best to stick to a healthy diet and exercise, especially later on in life. This condition can also lead to heart attacks and ultimately total heart failure.
The build up of a plaque like substance is the cause for this disease. There are other big contributors, including high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. All of these conditions either harden or clog the artery walls, creating a scar tissue that traps all of the plaque inside. Even worse is that with the build up of this plaque can come blood clots which will narrow the arteries more. This will bring the sufferer into the highest risk category.
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
CAD concerns the arteries that lead into the heart. These, as with most serious heart conditions, become narrow and sometimes hardened. CAD is thought to be one of the most serious heart diseases, and is better known, in its different stages as angina and a heart attack. These conditions have similar symptoms, involving major chest pains because the necessary sections of the heart do not receive enough blood. A heart attack can lead on to complete heart failure which is a result of one or more particular ventricles not receiving enough blood, then not functioning properly.
As with most heart diseases, a good diet and enough exercise can treat CAD, if it is discovered soon enough. The best idea is to maintain a healthy lifestyle as a preventative measure, to ensure it never happens.

Can the tissue inside a vessel expand and burst do to angina?
Like in weak spots do to high blood pressure.
I am going by word of mouth so please be nice. This is all new to me.
a vessel bursting is an aneurysm. Angina is a narrowed vessel of the heart that restricts the flow of blood to the heart and heart muscle and the muscle is crying out for oxygen/blood supply which is called angina. You can go to WebMd and read up about angina.

are the antihypertensive and antianginal same?? pls help ..?
im a hard time understanding this .. Antihypertensives are classified on beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, etc, etc. .. And also antianginal this classification, beta-blockers and calcium channel .. This is why im confused. Say if a person has to angina pectoris, antihypertensive "I can give someone who has a sore throat, but suffer from hypertension? Is two drugs really the same thing?
They are not really the same. It depends on the mechanism of drug action. Some drugs antihypertensive drugs did not directly affect the heart, as some calcium channel blockers (Norvasc) and alpha-blockers such as terazosin. While reducing blood pressure, which is a relief, but also increase heart rate by a reflex mechanism of blood pressure has decreased, which is not good for a person with angina pectoris. Beta-blockers, and other channel blockers (verapamil), they will both lower blood pressure and heart rate slow, they are preferred as anti-anginal. These drugs are useful for hypertension and angina pectoris. Then you things like rust and sublingual isosorbide nitrous, which mainly dilated veins, which is useful for the treatment of angina pectoris, but not for hypertension.
Are you often have chest pains? Stress can be the main cause, and can not even know!
Many people are panicked after experiencing chest pains. However, a sudden shock the heart or burning does not always mean that you are the victim of a heart attack (if you should consult your doctor for a proper diagnosis.) Very often, the chest pain is caused by stress.
Frankly, many problems are muscle pain caused by stress, it is actually not that crazy maybe spend hours too many in the office across from the theory of a heart attack ever.
Chest pain caused by stress becomes very common. By taking the time to understand and solve this problem, a good opportunity to reduce or get rid of this pain in the chest completely. Read following to learn more about this C case.
Perhaps a case of angina pectoris.
Angina refers a chest pain you feel when not enough blood is pumped into your heart. This often happens when you have completed the exercise or when you're really excited.
It also has much to do with their lifestyle. Do you smoke? If you are very stressed and not exercise? All these things lead to angina pectoris.
At first, you have the opportunity to invest their habits. Try to eliminate those harmful their health. Angina may not seem so deadly, but when left unresolved, can be a symptom of heart disease real. A matter of lifestyle
As mentioned previously, the Community Chest pain caused by stress. So how to deal with this situation?
It is very important that you take a good look at your current lifestyle. Check your stress level and see what you can do with them to maintain a relatively low level.
Personally I find the meditation as a very effective way to keep my stress levels low. However, if you can not cope with standing still for more than three minutes, I suggest you at least take a break from busy schedule time to time.
Not everyone has the privilege of leaving the house for a weeks worth of vacation, but you can get your computer chair ass and spend a few minutes on a bit of fresh air.
Consult your doctor.
However, it is also very important consult your doctor. If your chest pain due to stress, your doctor may recommend taking some corrective action or changes in their specific activities daily to help keep away the pain.
Chest pain is usually caused by stress, not necessarily a heart attack. However, do not take lightly their condition. It is always advisable to consult a doctor about your discomfort and he or she make a diagnosis out.
If a person suffering from angina to avoid strenuous exercise like jogging?
My question is addressed to someone problems with angina pectoris, but not yet completed the diagnosis, avoid strenuous exercise like jogging? Usually These exercises are encouraged to build endurance and improve heart health. But if someone is suffering from angina pectoris during or after exercise?
Angina is a clinical diagnosis, and investigations are not very useful to reach a diagnosis of angina pectoris. Angina pectoris is defined as a feeling of pain or chest discomfort, especially with a sticker or a type of pain on his constriciting breast or other body parts, usually radiating to his left arm and shoulder, aggravated by physical activity or stress, and may or may not relieved by rest. in this most important explanation is the feeling of pressing or type of constriction, and is considered the definition of angina pectoris in the case limits, as referred pain in his left arm and is generally described in the literature may be due to a disease of the cervical spine and nerves upper limb. So, if the diagnosis of angina pectoris is in doubt, is ur doctor to perform a routine test to confirm. heart on the issue of fiscal Sweet, a patient with angina can exercise until the point that it preciptate angina or symptoms shareholders. some patients with severe disease may have symptoms of angina and rest in patients, even walking from the room bath can be life threatening if the exercise is totally out of question. In other cases the amount of exercise depends on the tolerance of patient. if the patient can tolerate a certain type of activity, precipitation of symptoms, there is no harm in exercising this activity, and this is true for everything, including jogging sweet.

If you do not dig deeper, you would be forgiven for thinking that asthma patients should not take heart medicine. Asthma and mist swine flu, however, further research, the picture becomes a little less clear cut. You see, the chance for those who have conditions which are classified as "reactive respiratory disease, advances in medical technology and pharmaceutical research have benefited from health heart too. Not only that, but studies have questioned some heart patients – those with asthma or not – in fact benefit anyway beta-blockers. This article will address these issues and what alternatives are available.
Beta-blockers (also called beta-blockers) are used:
* High blood pressure
* Prevention of Migraine
* Angina (pain originating in the heart muscle)
* Rapid, irregular heartbeat (Treatment and Prevention)
* The symptoms of hyperactivity thyroid gland
* Congestive heart failure
* The prevention of performance anxiety in musicians and other
* A number of other conditions.
They work by blocking the effect of the hormone adrenaline and related chemicals that are also involved in this fight or flight "mechanism. These drugs are very into two classes. older drugs called Beta-blockers are not selective. The most recent are known as beta-blockers cardio. The difference between them is related to the fact that the old class drugs block two of the three types of beta receptors in the body (1 and 2, located in the heart and lungs, gastrointestinal tract, liver, uterus and other areas). New drugs are more precise. They can block the beta receptors 1 and 2 – thus the name.
This is good news for asthma sufferers, as it is shown that beta-blockers are really sure cardio for asthmatics and people with other serious respiratory problems. The problem with the old style is that the drug had the potential to cause severe asthma attacks. The risks are simply not worth it, so people rarely put on them.
The new drugs are not a threat, however, at least for those of mild to moderate asthma. This change in medical opinion comes An analysis of a series of studies published after being identified as eligible for consideration. It is important Note, however, is not that the long-term use is still suggested for patients with asthma. And in the case of severe asthma, beta-blockers -cons are listed.
A very interesting report in the Journal of Science threatens to throw everything out the window. They cite a Cochrane review of 13 trials randomized, which together have more than 91,000 people in them. The review examined whether studies have shown that beta-blockers to control effectively participate progression of heart disease and prevention of death it. And it was not significantly superior to placebo at two. Atenolol beta-blocker used has been called, a cardioselective beta-blocker that has an affinity for beta 1.
As noted by the Science Daily article that still work to be done before this information is extrapolated to all the generals all beta-blockers, also note that the alternatives boss heart was better. These include calcium channel blockers, thiazide diuretics and inhibitors of the renin-angiotensin system.
They are good news for asthma patients suffering from heart problems. This means that there are classes of drugs available for those who are safer for respiratory system, and more likely to effectively protect against the problems associated with heart disease. As always discuss your options with your doctor, and if you are not satisfied with the results, get a second opinion.

I am a nursing student news you need to know what you would if you had 4 points. that everyone had emergencies. Place the points. priority and what do w / each: A Pt). angina pectoris B) Art. with gastrointestinal bleeding C) State Pt shock, low blood pressure. D) PT. w / 4 pt has asthma and the development of asthma. It was a pain in angina
A golden rule for selection is ABC: airway, breathing, circulation. You want to ensure that the patient had all 3 of these things? in that order. All scenarios described in life, but the asthmatic condition can kill in minutes shorter, and its closure is air, so it had to be taken first. The patient with angina is an emergency, but he is still unemployed, thus the movement for now. The patient Gastrointestinal bleeding can be very critical turn very quickly, and could begin projectile vomiting blood, which could make exsanguination in few minutes, and put into circulation, so I went with the second, the allocation a good nurse, aggressive .. The patient in shock with hypotension Blood is an emergency, but could put it on the floor and lift your feet and buy a few minutes with him, so I postponed for the moment. Would quickly assess angina patient to see if it is angina, or MI is true in this case, may stop at any time, so I'll probably his third. And the man lying on the floor with his feet to pass. Now, having said that, in real life if I the triage nurse and these 4 patients had to hit the door once, I cried again for a couple of experienced nurses SO join me STAT triage area and I help these patients Guerney loaded and return to the room quickly. Having heard the commotion, I imagine that the ER doc also participate in the fight very quickly, and he could not ignore at will. Thus, the theory was not quite the reality. But it like that I had created, and quickly. In real life, all 4 of these patients return to treatment in a few minutes if it was humanly possible.
