Heart bypass surgery is a procedure done to remedy blocked vessels which supply oxygen and blood in the heart. It is commonly done to people who have single or multiple blockages in their vessels. When two grafts are done, it is called double bypass, if three then it is called triple bypass, and so on.

People who usually get this procedure are sedated and given anesthesia. Once the patient is unconscious, an opening is done in the chest part and the heart is connected to a device which later on will do the work for it because the heart will artificially be stopped. Doctors will now get veins and connect them to areas where it is needed. After the procedure, the wound will be closed and the patient will be brought to the ICU.

Just like all surgical procedures, undergoing heart bypass surgery has side effects alongside it, and the most common of these is developing infections. There may be other effects from this procedure, sometimes severe conditions, which is why talking to a doctor about the post surgical care methods should be sough out for because when infections start, wrong wound caring may lead to worsening of the condition.
